Practitoner Profile
David Luka
BSc (Hons) Sport Science, BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy, MCSP, SRP, AACP
David qualified as a Sport and Exercise Scientist in 1994 from the University of Brighton and subsequently qualified as a Physiotherapist in 1999 from UEL. Since then he has fulfilled roles both in the NHS and the private sector working extensively with patients suffering from a wide range of neuromusculoskeletal conditions including sporting injuries, both traumatic and overuse, work-related disorders, problems related to inactivity, and chronic pain. He has worked alongside an occupational health team in managing work-related problems, including the assessment of task ergonomics, and has work closely with orthopaedic, spinal and neurosurgeons in optimising post-operative recovery.
David is committed to following a programme of on-going postgraduate professional development and has continually developed on a wide range of diagnostic and treatment skills, including manipulation, acupuncture, electrotherapy, soft tissue techniques, biomechanical analysis, and specific rehabilitative and prophylactic exercise. He gains satisfaction from helping patients to achieve their physical goals and improve their understanding of how their body uniquely functions and its relationship to their individual problems so that they can play a more active role in their rehabilitation. This will enhance recovery and prevent recurrence more effectively. He believes that it is not enough simply to relieve symptoms and that it is essential to address the underlying causes.
